My journey has taught me that true empowerment is a deeply personal odyssey – it’s found not just in the grand victories, but in the quiet courage of standing firm, in the authenticity of living your truth, and in the profound joy of seeing your light inspire another. It’s about nurturing your inner strength, embracing every challenge as a stepping stone, and fearlessly becoming the woman you were always meant to be, while lifting others along the way.

With quiet resolve to pursue my dreams, I endeavour to find inner peace whilst helping others pursue theirs.  Maintaining my Greek-Australian identity and helping to ignite the Greek flame in my daughters, as well as in my grandchildren is one of my missions in life.  Another is to share the virtues of the Greek language and culture with others through my role as an educator and through my personal relations.  As a woman of Greek heritage, I navigate cultures and physical boundaries to achieve my goals.  In my view, this is the embodiment of empowerment.

Even the smallest step will bring clarity, confidence, and momentum. Don’t wait for certainty, create it. Be curious. Ask questions. Talk to new people. Push your comfort zone, again and again. That’s where your hidden talents live. That’s where growth begins. You are more than you think – so go do something amazing

As I advance in ophthalmology and oculoplastics, my mission is to lead with empathy, challenge inequities, and help shape a future where excellent care is accessible to all

I have always thought that each professional can be described in a tweet. My body rewrote academia’s rules before I could fully follow them, challenging ableism along the way. Now I’m making sure vision impaired youth get to author their own futures with bold letters and accessible ink
